Draw something --
Here are some sketches that
that are easy to draw. Most people will enjoy being able to draw these. You may want
to try changing or adding to the drawings shown.
You can get more ideas for
how to draw from books on drawing/sketching in a library. A friend or family
member might have some advise. Making drawings with a computer can be fun.
A simple programs like Paint that comes with Windows can be used. One of the big
advantages of using a computer is that any part of a drawing can be easily changed
until you get it the way you want it.
Sketching requires
knowing how to represent an object or an idea in a simple way. Simplification
is often the first step in learning anything new. It can make difficult tasks
much easier. Being able to draw can therefore be a valued tool for making life
more enjoyable and rewarding.

Spiral-- To make the sketch below, first draw a rectangle with the length of the sides
having a ratio of about 8 to 5. Draw a line which makes a square at one end of the
rectangle. That line will also make another rectangle with sides whose lengths are
the ratio 8 to 5. Draw another line making a square at one end of that second
rectangle. Keep repeating the process as many times as possible. Then draw the
curve using the squares as a guide.
The rectangle is sometimes referred to as a golden rectangle. Its sides are not
exactly a 8 to 5 ratio. The shape shown is that found in some sea shells and snails.
