Fun Science Idea
Symmetry --
Write the words exactly
as shown on a card. Hold the card beside a mirror and look at the image of
the words in the mirror. Capital letters that appear correctly in a mirror
are A, H, I, M, O, T, U, V, W, X and Y.
Write the words CHOICE QUALITY on a paper. Turn the paper
upside down . With the back of the card toward you, look at its image in
a mirror. The letters H, O and I are the same when flipped upside down and/or
left to right.
The C and E are said to have vertical symmetry. Their image can be rotated one half turn around a horizontal axis and the image remains the same.
Letters like T and M have horizontal symmetry and can be rotated around a vertical axis to produce the same shape.
The letters H and O can be rotated about either axis without changing the letter. They have both types of symmetry.
